00:00:00: Why do the most complicated orthodontic cases on social media get the most attention, while simple effective treatments stay invisible?
00:00:09: And are complexity and control really the same thing?
00:00:13: or is this where ego quietly replaces efficiency.

00:00:23: Today's episode is a short but important reflection And on a contrast, I see almost every day.
00:00:35: Lean orthodontics versus what i like to call ego-orthodontic.
00:00:40: Many of us start today by scrolling through Instagram Facebook or other platforms and before we realize it valuable time is gone.
00:00:50: But that's not the real issue.
00:00:53: What truly surprises me Is the kind of orthodonic content That often gets celebrated there.
00:00:59: Lean orthodox stands for efficiency clarity and reproducibility.
00:01:05: It focuses on doing what is necessary, and nothing more.
00:01:09: Treatments are transparent sustainable based on solid diagnosis and well understood mechanics.
00:01:17: yet on social media we often see the opposite.
00:01:20: highly complex constructions multiple loop arches mini implants combined with sectional wires are presented as innovation and control.
00:01:33: The irony is that these complex systems are frequently used to solve problems that could be managed far more simply, the idea that more mechanics automatically mean more control is a misconception.
00:01:45: complexity does not eliminate variability.
00:01:48: it increases it when we bend highly complicated arch wires or design intricate mechanics but reproducing that exact result again is nearly impossible.
00:02:02: This is what we call inter-rater variability and intra-rator variability, even when the same person repeats the same action The outcome changes.
00:02:13: When different clinicians attempt to copy What they saw online?
00:02:17: The variability becomes even greater.
00:02:20: We know this problem well from diagnostics.
00:02:22: if multiple clinicians trace the same cephalometric landmark the results will differ.
00:02:28: Even if one clinician repeats this task multiple times, the markings won't be identical.
00:02:34: This reality alone should make us cautious about blindly copying complex biomechanical constructions from social media posts.
00:02:43: The same applies to bio-mechanics itself.
00:02:45: Perfectly calculated forces precisely drawn centres of resistance and mathematically exact angles may look impressive but they remain approximations.
00:02:56: Teeth move in three dimensions and over time, every tooth has its own changing coordinate system influenced by biology anatomy and treatment progress.
00:03:08: the belief that extreme precision on paper guarantees perfect clinical outcomes is an illusion.
00:03:14: I personally value elegance simplicity and intelligence.
00:03:19: In music A melody is often powerful because it's immediately understandable.
00:03:25: The same applies to orthodontics, a simple well-designed system that works consistently... ...is far more impressive than complicated construction that looks spectacular but hard to reproduce and difficult to teach.
00:03:39: This my invitation for you Don't be dazzled by overly complex treatments on social media.
00:03:46: Focus instead on achieving consistently high-quality results in your own practice.
00:03:52: Build systems that are reliable, teachable and repeatable.
00:03:56: Understand deeply which patients require which approach Which tools you truly need And how to apply them efficiently.
00:04:04: Simplicity does not mean oversimplification.
00:04:08: It means clarity Scientific thinking Conscious decision making.
00:04:13: Read beyond headlines Look into methods, limitations and biases.
00:04:19: Question what you see And especially What looks too perfect to be true.
