00:00:13: Now enjoy watching & listening!
00:00:26: And as you'll see, it almost always starts with a fundamental choice between two very different opposing forces.
00:00:31: So let's get started this right here.
00:00:33: This is really the core idea of our entire discussion.
00:00:37: Every single person you hire every team You build.
00:00:39: It's a strategic move that quite literally defines where your practice is headed.
00:00:43: and look I know it's high stakes game especially Right now at the shortage of skilled workers.
00:00:47: but having A deliberate strategy Is exactly what separates a practice That thrives from one just stagnates.
00:00:53: So here's our roadmap for the next few minutes.
00:00:54: We're going to cover these five key areas, we'll kick things off with a big dilemma every leader faces then will look at a much deeper view of diversity introduce a practical model you can use for team building talk about some actionable tactics and finally we'll redefine your role as the architect of your teams future.
00:01:09: All right first up The Leaders Dilemma As practice owners.
00:01:12: we are constantly navigating this choice.
00:01:14: Are we building a Team For Maximum Harmony or are we building it from maximum productivity?
00:01:17: The answer isn't simple.
00:01:18: is its sounds in each path leads to very different destination?
00:01:21: Now, this is where it gets really interesting.
00:01:24: What you see here is a clear trade-off.
00:01:25: on one hand You have the harmony team.
00:01:27: everyone thinks alike.
00:01:28: It's relaxed and it's incredibly efficient.
00:01:30: for routine work communication feels almost telepathic.
00:01:33: But on the other hand you have a team of opposites And that creates an explosive creative friction.
00:01:37: Its attention at very friction.
00:01:39: That sparks completely new ideas and drives real innovation.
00:01:42: The key takeaway Here Is neither Of these is inherently better than the Other.
00:01:45: They are simply different tools For Different Strategic Jobs.
00:01:48: So when we talk about creating that productive friction, the conversation naturally turns to diversity.
00:01:52: But I want us to move beyond the usual surface level definitions.
00:01:56: true impactful diversity.
00:01:57: well it's a lot more complex and has far more layers than we typically think.
00:02:01: real diversity covers everything.
00:02:02: you see here personalities where people grew up even local social circles.
00:02:06: but Think About this one for moment.
00:02:08: hierarchical expectations.
00:02:10: Imagine a staff member who comes from culture where the boss is a patriarch, Who makes every single decision.
00:02:15: Now how will they interact with modern flat leadership style compared to someone who expects to be autonomous?
00:02:19: It's these hidden forces that are shaping your team dynamics Every day.
00:02:23: whether you realize it or not You know one of biggest challenges I see Is generational gap.
00:02:27: Picture it!
00:02:28: You have veteran employee been here for twenty years Working side by side With sixteen year old trainee.
00:02:32: Might as well be different planets.
00:02:34: To keep your team from breaking into these little disconnected clicks, I strongly suggest you find or hire what i call a bridge person.
00:02:40: This is often someone in their thirties who can naturally connect to different generations translating between communication styles and work ethics.
00:02:46: And this brings us right at the heart of our strategic framework.
00:02:49: The level diversity that we build onto our teams shouldn't be an accident.
00:02:53: It has been deliberate conscious choice directly aligned with specific goals for each part.
00:02:59: Let's just break this model down.
00:03:00: It is really quite simple!
00:03:01: If your goal is innovation, if you want to expand or get creative... You absolutely need a diverse team – it the collision of different viewpoints that ignites new solutions.
00:03:09: But…if your goals are efficiency and perfecting routine tasks A more homogeneous team will be actually superior.
00:03:14: They communicate faster they have less conflict And probably see lower turnover because environment is so stable and predictable.
00:03:20: Let me give an example from my own practices.
00:03:23: Our medical team, the doctors is intentionally very diverse.
00:03:26: We're constantly debating different clinical approaches and we use our varied backgrounds to tackle really complex cases.
00:03:31: but are administrative in lab teams?
00:03:33: They're much more homogeneous.
00:03:34: their job is to ensure seamless efficient operations day-in and day out And a tight knit cohesive group does that best.
00:03:40: okay So that's the model.
00:03:41: But how do we actually put this into practice?
00:03:44: let shift from theory To some actionable tactics.
00:03:46: you'll see that optimizing your team doesn't always mean You have to go out and hire or fire anyone.
00:03:51: Here's a really powerful tactic.
00:03:53: Strategic rotation!
00:03:54: If you have a team that has kind of gotten stuck in its ways, just move an employee from another department into the group for couple weeks?
00:03:59: This one simple change can introduce a jolt of new energy forcing them to question their old habits and rethink work flows.
00:04:05: It is fantastic way test people talents build more flexible resilient organization overall.
00:04:10: And here are other huge benefits of diverse stuff Better patient care.
00:04:14: Your patients aren't all same right?
00:04:16: They have different needs, different personalities.
00:04:18: A diverse team gives you the ability to strategically match your practitioners' two-year patience.
00:04:22: Some patients really connect with a practitioner who's a lot like them while others actually prefer a more dynamic even challenging relationship.
00:04:28: Being able to customize that patient experience well That is serious competitive advantage.
00:04:32: So what does this all come down?
00:04:34: Leadership Your role has to evolve.
00:04:37: You can't just be manager Who oversees day by day.
00:04:39: You become strategic architect who intentionally design for success.
00:04:43: So listen, here's the bottom line.
00:04:45: When you truly embrace diversity there is going to be friction.
00:04:48: There will be disagreements.
00:04:49: your job isn't to stamp that out and manage The chaos.
00:04:52: no Your job is to build the bridges between these different people And their perspectives.
00:04:56: it about channeling all That collective energy towards innovative solutions that help both your patients and your practice.
00:05:01: so I'll leave You with this final thought take With you.
00:05:03: Take a hard look at your practice At the team you've assembled around you.
00:05:07: Is its architecture designed simply To maintain the status quo or is It really designed to innovate?
00:05:13: Because ultimately, the answer to that question will determine your future.
