00:00:15: Hello I'm Dr Martin Baxman.

00:00:17: Today i want talk about something that goes way beyond just the numbers.

00:00:20: in our practices We're going explore four key pillars which can truly transform how you work Building a real foundation for satisfaction not only for yourself but also team members.

00:00:29: So, let's start with a challenge I think we can all recognize.

00:00:32: The volume trap.

00:00:33: You know it is this painful but really necessary lesson that so many of us learned the hard way.

00:00:38: That just because your schedule is packed to the brim It doesn't mean you're going have fulfilling career.

00:00:42: Far from actually.

00:00:43: And what happens?

00:00:44: This relentless chase for more and more volume Chips away at very thing makes our work meaningful.

00:00:50: When speed as all matters We don't lose joy No!

00:00:53: We loose essence.

00:00:54: why got into profession in first place?

00:00:56: Okay, so to fight back against this I want offer a framework.

00:00:59: It's built on four pillars that i believe can help you build much more resilient and frankly fulfilling practice.

00:01:04: we'll talk about volume trap then dive right into strategic patients.

00:01:08: reliability clinical empathy gratitude let get started.

00:01:12: our first pillar is patience But wait, probably not in the way you're thinking.

00:01:16: This isn't about just sitting back and waiting for things to happen—not at all!

00:01:19: This is about using patience as a strategic asset —a tool for real sustainable growth and innovation in your practice.

00:01:27: Think about it... In truly high-performing practice where does real value come from?

00:01:30: It comes from methodical deliberate training… Not from rushed half baked initiatives –it's completely unrealistic.

00:01:36: throw complex new systems out.

00:01:38: our teams expect them.

00:01:39: master one afternoon training And that right there is when strategic patients become so crucial In this slide really shows the two ways you can go about it.

00:01:46: On one hand, You have a sledgehammer approach.

00:01:49: It's disruptive and creates chaos And it absolutely crushes any hope of innovation.

00:01:53: But on the other hand...you have breadcrumb approach.

00:01:56: This is where you introduce change gradually.

00:01:58: You share bits of information over time.

00:01:59: So when final implementation happens It feels like most natural logical next step for everyone in team.

00:02:05: What's bottom line here?

00:02:06: Strategic patience isn't passive.

00:02:08: It's actually protective.

00:02:09: If protects your best ideas, it gives them the space they need to be fully understood and embraced by our team shielding that innovation from a constant pressure to get immediate an usually superficial results.

00:02:20: alright let's move on.

00:02:21: pillar number two is all about reliability And really this absolute bedrock of trust.

00:02:25: in practice.

00:02:26: I have simple phrase for word A Word Is A Word.

00:02:29: This isn't just big things covers everything From honoring details in employment agreement All way down to simple act.

00:02:36: giving feedback you said would.

00:02:38: It's all about following through every single time and showing your people that when you make a commitment, it's steadfast.

00:02:43: You know the long-term return on investment for keeping your word?

00:02:46: It's just immense!

00:02:47: I'll give you a personal example...I once committed to hiring a fantastic candidate who couldn't start for six months.

00:02:52: now That created a real short term financial burden.

00:02:54: i won't lie but i kept my word And by honoring that promise i ultimately secured two of the most valuable Most important members of my team today.

00:03:02: THAT is reliability in action.

00:03:04: and listen.

00:03:04: this next point Is absolutely critical.

00:03:07: If you assign a task to someone on your team but then never make the time actually review it with them, YOU become the bottleneck.

00:03:12: You are one breaking system and what really doing is discouraging from ever taking that kind of initiative again!

00:03:18: So your reliability directly empowers theirs.

00:03:21: Okay pillar number three is empathy.

00:03:23: Now I know some might be thinking.

00:03:25: in lean efficient practice Empathy can seem well counterintuitive.

00:03:30: A lot leaders think as soft skill gets into way productivity.

00:03:33: But I'm here to tell you that true clinical empathy is actually a powerful strategic component of your success.

00:03:39: Because real empathy in a clinical setting, it goes way beyond just emotion!

00:03:43: It's about making a practical personalized connection...it's about as i like to say putting out your antennae to really understand your patient reality and then adapting your clinical strategy to actually fit their life.

00:03:54: We often hear this phrase right?

00:03:55: I treat them Like I would my own child.

00:03:57: And while its so well intentioned..It can be a trap.

00:04:00: Why Is That?

00:04:01: Well Its Simple Your patient's life is not your childs' life.

00:04:05: They have completely different budgets, different schedules and all of that has to be taken into account for treatment successful.

00:04:11: So ultimately true clinical empathy acts as a diagnostic tool.

00:04:15: It isn't just about being nice.

00:04:16: When you understand the patients real-life context You can design a treatment plan which actually works For them One who drives compliance And gets much better outcomes.

00:04:23: Why?

00:04:23: Because it was built on their reality Not our perfect clinical ideal.

00:04:27: That brings us to our final pillar.

00:04:29: This is the one that really solidifies everything.

00:04:31: Satisfaction, morale... it cements a positive culture for you and your team!

00:04:35: And that pillar?

00:04:36: Gratitude.

00:04:37: Now this can't just be random.

00:04:39: thank-you here or there.

00:04:40: For this to work.

00:04:41: It has become a non-negotiable anchored habit Something at end of every single working day.

00:04:47: It's deliberate practice.

00:04:50: This brings up critical skills as leaders One we don't often talk about Learning how to accept thanks.

00:04:56: Think About When a patient praises your work or your team's and you just brush it off, You're basically devaluing their entire positive experience.

00:05:03: But when you accept it gracefully... ...you validate their perception And affirm all the hard-work that they put in.

00:05:08: It is simple three step routine but trust me.. It can fundamentally shift your entire perspective!

00:05:13: It literally retrains our brain to focus less on All of those little fires we had during this day And more on genuine progress The good things that happened.

00:05:21: Okay so We've got these four really powerful values patience, reliability empathy and gratitude.

00:05:27: The big question now is how do we pull them all together?

00:05:30: How do we integrate them into a single cohesive system that actually supports the practice?

00:05:34: The key is to see they aren't just checklists of things to do.

00:05:37: They're an interconnected systems where each one supports others.

00:05:40: Strategic Patience helps you build foundation for reliability.

00:05:43: That reliability then fosters trust.

00:05:45: you need to practise real empathy And Gratitude reinforces positive outcomes from first three.

00:05:51: Together, they create this amazing culture of trust deep satisfaction and truly sustainable growth.

00:05:56: Look the goal here isn't to go back to your practice tomorrow in trying to master all four these overnight.

00:06:00: that's not realistic.

00:06:01: The real work begins with just one.

00:06:02: so I want to leave you With This question To reflect on which One Of These Pillars If You Started Strengthening It Today Would Create The Biggest Positive Impact In Your Practice.

00:06:09: Find That One And Start There.
